The course produces Health Records Officers and Technicians to bridge the gaps felt in the documentation of patient medical records for evidence purposes in the effective treatment of the patient, administration use and planning/budgeting on matters patients and resources required for patient healthcare across all hospitals in Kenya.
The course takes 2 years (6 semesters) for certificate and 3 years (9 semesters) for Diploma.
Training involves theories and more of practicums weekly and industrial attachments and 6 months internship to expose students to hands on work to enable them be efficient in supporting medical care through provision of evidence-based patient medical records for treatment.
Health Records Course initially regulated by AMRO-K is now regulated by Health Records and Information Management Board under the HRIM Act, Act No. 15 of 2013, the board that accredits the college and licences students after qualifying.
