This course produces Community Health Officers who operate as health care providers on primary care provision, health promotion and community development. Their role is anchored on prevention and strengthening of medical care at household levels in Kenya.
The course takes 1 year (4 semesters) for Artisan, 2 years (6 semesters) for Certificate and 3 years (9 semesters) for Diploma.
Training involves theories and more of practicums and industrial attachments and 6 months internship on community diagnosis to help students identify the health needs in the community and give possible recommendations to relevant authorities for action.
Examiners of Community Health and Development are KNEC/CDACC and are licenced by the Kenya Health Professional Oversight Authority (KHPOA).
